This is a specially designed environment that offers visitors a unique, hands-on experience. Visit at the Interactive Digital Technology Wing, composing a journey in time and knowledge including interviews with former miners, virtual ‘’slides’’ on the ore molecules and a journey at the ‘’tip’’ of a drill, searching for bauxite.
Hands-on Experience
Blue room
In the Blue room, visitors can watch the “History of bauxite”, a combination of realistic fiction and a document, narrated by Maria, a young granddaughter and daughter of a
miner from Amfissa.
Red room
In the Red Room’s facilities, there is stalactite-shaped hanging screen, where visitors can watch an animated, sci-fi journey of bauxite and its creation until its transformation into aluminum. It is the visitors who start the projection, by causing explosions in space in order to end up in the process of nature and then in the human intervention in the 800.000 tons of aluminum, which are annually produced in this factory. Furthermore, they will be able to ‘’touch’’ the virtual electrolysis, a process used to extract 160.000 tons of pure aluminum.
Green room
Last but not least, in the Green room, visitors can cross a «forest” of stalactites in order to perform their own virtual drilling.
