History of Mine 850
Mining in tunnel 805 started in 1967 and operated until 1972. It has been thoroughly preserved with all the necessary security measures and it’s appropriately lit and specially equipped to allow visitation.
Vagonetto
A yellow train, called ‘’Vagonetto’’ – the very same train that miners were using 30 years ago- is used to take visitors to the entrance of the mine. Then, they can take their tour walking throughout the mine, enjoying all
the underground exhibits.

Tunnel Displays
The underground tour is like a kaleidoscope of bauxite history and the daily lives of the workers. Visitors feels like watching the past through a keyhole, taking a glimpse of the life of thousand miners in the tunnel and experiencing the true working conditions, the conversations, the laughter, the jokes and all the secrets in it.
The Tunnel
The tunnel displays all labor positions of underground mining and all the old machines that were used by the workers, who are also displayed by manikins (human figures).
Visual-Auditory System
All that combined with a special visual-auditory system which offers realistic rendition.
